It is administered in the drinking water and interferes with the metabolism of the vitamin thiamine (vitamin B1) in coccidia. The drug is a thiamine analog and blocks the thiamine transporter of Eimeria species. By blocking thiamine uptake, it prevents carbohydrate synthesis. It is
