The essential oil of Dittany comes from steam distillation of the leaves which bear on their surface a number of glandular hairs. The main constituents of the essential oil of Dittany are the three substances carvacrol, thymol, and poulegkioni which give the plant its excellent antiseptic and antispasmodic properties. Thus the essential oil of the dittany is used in aromatherapy as a
